Mom burns in the design then dad cuts out all the pieces she wishes to vanish ! Then .. after careful cleaning my mom beautifully stains the gourd into a burst of Autumn for your home ! Large Bull Moose Gourd Art Basket
This piece of gourd art is spectacular !! I am not sure where to begin ! First off .. Because of the beautiful shine finish sealer on these gourds .. they make my flash reflect ! The white dot is my flash ! I want to use the flash so you can all see the vibrant buckskin .. tan .. brownish orange colors !! Mom uses a wood burner to create her designs .. She sketches the moose and the paw prints and then with her finger tips .. applies the dyes .. mixing them just perfect ! Dad has attached the neatest little antler as a handle .. plus added some handmade buckskin lace with a clay bead ! This impressive creation measures around 10 inches tall and around 9 inches across ! A large size sure to make a statement ! With plenty of room inside to hide treasures if you choose !!

Fall maple leaf gourd bowl
"Fall gourd" is about 8 1/2 " long with a 3 3/4" diameter opening and sits about 3 3/4" tall. The gourd is decorated with four maple leaves in various shades of magenta, red, orange, green, yellow and brown. The rim to the opening is beaded with size 11 seed beads. The image is burnt in with a wood burning tool and the leaves are painted with acrylic paint.

Fall Harvest Gourd Bowl
This is a fall harvest gourd bowl that I always enjoy making this time of year. It has eggplant, pumpkins, apples, squash and flowers. The gourd has been cleaned, cut, woodburned and sanded. It was painted with gourd master ink dye and the inside was painted black. The outside of the gourd was sealed with gourd master wax for a long lasting shine. If the gourd becomes dull looking it can be rubbed with a soft cloth to bring back the shine. The inside of the gourd was sealed with polyacrlic. It is 22 in. around and 5 1/2 in. tall.

Pumpkin Gourd Bowl
This gourd has three pumpkins on it and would be a nice decoration for Holloween or Thanksgiving. This gourd had some imperfections, which is pretty common with most gourds. I think it gives the gourd it's own uniqueness and character. This gourd bowl has been cleaned, cut, woodburned and sanded. The outside was painted with gourd master ink dye and the inside painted black with acrylic paint. The outside of the bowl was sealed with gourd master wax to give a beautiful shine. If the gourd becomes dull it can be rubbed with a soft cloth to bring back the shine. The inside of the bowl was sealed with polyacrylic. It is 22 in. around and 6 1/2 in. tall.

Leaf gourd bowl
This cut leaf gourd bowl was inspired by a trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway. This time of year the leaves are just beautiful here in the mountains. I tried to capture some of the vibrant colors of the fall leaves. I did the background in black to make the color of the leaves stand out. The gourd has been cleaned, cut, woodburned, sanded, and painted with Gourd Master ink dyes. The inside of the gourd was painted with black acrylic painted and sealed with polyacrylic for a drual finish. On the outside of the gourd I used gourd wax to give it a long lasting shine. The bowl is 21 1/2 in. around and 7 in. tall.

Falling Leaves Bowl w/leaves cluster
Coming from the New England, I often hunger for the beauty of autumn leaves. I carved this bowl after a trip to D.C. in October. The leaves in D.C. were more beautiful than I remembered. This bowl has a lot of cutwork, the thickness of the bowl was deemphasized by mimicking and sculpting the leaf edges. Leaves are painted with ink dyes and the interior is stained a mahogany color. Leaf Detailing is woodburned and individual leaves are then dimensionally carved for accent.

Wrapped Rope Basket
This burgundy basket is made from cotton cord that is wrapped in fabric and sewn together using a zigzag stitch. It measures 6 1/2 inches across the bottom, 9 inches across the top and stands 2 1/2 inches high. These baskets are great in the kitchen. Line with a napkin and fill with fruit, chips, bread, crackers, etc. They're great for a casserole dish when it comes out of the oven. Use them in the summer around the pool or take them to a picnic. I also put them in the bath and use them for guest towels, wash clothes and soap. They look great on the dining room table or on the shelves of your hutch. Spot clean with a damp cloth and soap....I have been known to put them in the dishwasher too!
