Glass Acorn Necklace
My one of a kind glass acorns were created using an "off mandrel" technique-meaning they are essentially a solid drop of glass with only one hole. I shape them one at a time using soda lime glass and a torch. They are finished with real acorn caps that have been cleaned and finally, sealed with museum quality wax.

This necklace was crafted from a handmade mold using a real acorn and resin. The acorn's characteristic texture and shape is highly magnified by the sphere to create a truly 3-D effect. The real acorn and Oak leaves have been encased within the clear resin, which not only protects the acorn, but magnifies it as well. Finished with a hidden bronze bail, as not to affect the appearance of this unusual pendant, and to compliment the rustic, earthy nature of this piece. The resin acorn cap is sculpted to sit up a bit higher, just as a real acorn cap appears in nature. Measures 1 1/4 inch from top to bottom, and just a tad under an inch at the widest point of the acorn. This has a glass like appearance, but is very light weight to wear. Created in 3-4 steps to give this a 3 dimensional appearance.. Tribute to the Acorn
I love these little nuts for so many reasons! They represent a beautiful time of year when nature is transitioning to prepare for the long winter ahead!!! During this season all of our senses come alive!!! Everywhere you look vivid colors abound!!!! Walk outside and feel the crisp cool air, smell the burning leaves, watch as animals scurry around gathering their nuts for winter. For me the acorn also represents new "life". It is hard to believe that inside this cute shell is a tiny seed that might someday become a magnificent oak tree!!!!! 31
