You can see that all of the lines are yellow, as the scarf was dyed first and then free hand painted. This scarf was inspired by last year pictures we took in Krakow, Poland. I created this scarf by using a watercolor salt technique and a special method which is called the SERTI technique, when the design is applied with a resist that keeps dyes within the outlined areas. After the dye has dried, the silk is steam set for 4 hours. This increases the brilliance of the color and allows the dye to permanently bond to the silk on a molecular level. After that, the silk is colorfast and washable.
